Ripple is trying to position XRP and RLUSD inside the growing AI-agent payments market.
The company recently introduced an โXRPL AI Starter Kit,โ giving developers tools to build AI agents that can send payments directly through the XRP Ledger.
The idea behind it is simple:
if AI systems eventually start interacting with services, APIs, and digital platforms autonomously, they may also need fast and low-cost payment rails to move value between each other.
Ripple says XRPLโs low fees, built-in exchange features and fast settlement times could make it suitable for that type of machine-to-machine activity.
At the same time, the current x402 ecosystem is still largely dominated by USDC activity across networks like Base and Solana.
According to recent data shared in the report:
โ x402 transaction activity has already crossed 120M transactions
โ with most payment volume currently flowing through USDC
โ while Ripple is now trying to compete for part of that market using XRP and RLUSD
The broader trend continues showing how AI infrastructure and crypto payment systems are starting to overlap more across the industry.
The market for autonomous agent payments remains very early and adoption at larger scale is still developing.
