Yesterday, I went fishing in Subic with my grandkids, Gusie and Jack, and my daughter, Marnie. ๐ฃ We didnโt catch any fish, but lo and beholdโwe caught a turtle! ๐ข It was a struggle to unhook him, but thankfully, he wasnโt hurt. We safely released him back into the sea.

Currently in Geneva for the International Conference of the Red Cross, but our work never stops. Even from miles away and in different time zones, I'm in constant supervision and coordination with my team in the Philippines to ensure the Philippine Red Cross is on the ground,
delivering urgent assistance to those affected by Tropical Storm Kristine. This is the heart of our missionโhelping those in need, wherever we are.

In the wake of Typhoon #JulianPH the @philredcross is fully committed to supporting our kababayans in Batanes. To ensure swift and efficient service delivery we have strengthened the capacity of the local Chapter making it more resilient and better prepared for future challenges.
Weโve deployed additional manpower, trained personnel from nearby chapters who will help with assessment, and essential equipment, including a 4x4 vehicle, generator sets to restore power, a water treatment unit for safe clean water, and radio communication kits for connectivity.
Weโre also providing disaster kits and welfare kits to help families get back on their feet.
No matter how far or remote, the Philippine Red Cross is here to provide life-saving aid and rebuild communities.
Together, we will rise and recover.
Moments after Taal Volcano erupted, I immediately convened with our service heads and had a virtual meeting with PRC Batangas Administrator Ronald Generoso to discuss our response plan. Weโve prepared food trucks, ambulances, rescue trucks, and other equipment for deployment.
In times like this, every second counts. We've alerted nearby chapters, ready to support our Batangas team in providing critical aid. The @philredcross stands ready to protect and serve those in need.

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon #JulianPH, the @philredcross proves its commitment to reaching even the most isolated communities, like Batanes. Despite its remote location, our chapter in #Batanes is equipped with dedicated volunteers always ready to serve.
Kinamusta ko ang mga chapters na tinamaan, kasama na si Waldi, our Chapter Administrator in Batanes, to check on their condition and assess what support they need. We're planning to bolster their capabilities with a service vehicle or pick-up to enhance their response efforts.
I also spoke with Gov. Marilou Cayco and assured her that PRC is ready to support. If schools have damaged roofs, weโll help, just as we did in the Babuyan Islands. Yan ang PRCโkahit sa malalayong lugar, volunteers are ready to serve!

Super Typhoon #JulianPH has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but it has left behind considerable damage in Batanes and several provinces in Region 1.
In Ilocos Norte, our Red Cross Chapter assisted evacuees by distributing hot meals at AP Santos Elementary and providing essential medicines at three evacuation centers.
A big thank you to all our volunteers and staff who risked their safety to help those in need. You are the heart of the @philredcross. Thank you for your service and dedication to humanity. #AlwaysFirstAlwaysReadyAlwaysThere
