THANK YOU for another fantastic season! Season 7 is in the books. Despite Wheeling and WBS falling short of their cup final, I had a great time watching them after the Pens got eliminated by the Flyers. Our farm teams were great to watch this season, despite me not following up with them enough and watching them, but I will definitely do more next year. I also had a blast this season watching a lot more games, thanks to one of my friends. We also had a blast going to our first Wilkes-Barre game, as well as seeing Wheeling for the first time AND a playoff game. Can't wait to do it again soon. I wanna thank you guys for following along for another great season. Thank you for sticking with me and interacting with me. Thank you to the 2,100 of you. I cannot thank you enough. I love interacting with Penguins community and talking about hockey. I really appreciate you guys. Cannot wait to run it back for SEASON 8 in October. Thank you guys again. #LetsGoPens

Sucks to see him go, but glad he had an awesome opportunity to become a head coach. Best of luck to you, Mitch!
After three seasons as an assistant coach for the Nailers, Mitch Giguere has been named the head coach of the Greensboro Gargoyles. We would like to thank Mitch and his family for all of the amazing memories over the past three years, and we wish him the best of luck as he begins his journey as an ECHL head coach! #ForTheWheel

Figure this will happen sooner or later because he refused to report to Wheeling at the beginning of the season. #LetsGoPens
The Penguins have acquired forward Oliver Okuliar from the Florida Panthers in exchange for defenseman Emil Pieniniemi. Details: pens.pe/4fJNbHE

Note: he did play later on in the season, but him refusing to report messed up their relationship.

Now that the ECHL protected lists are out, it's time for this great flowchart, created and updated by my friend, Andrew Zadarnowski, on signing those players. Click on the image to get the entire flowchart:

The @WBSPenguins put together a season to be proud of. The youngest team in the AHL advanced to the Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 2013-14. Rutger McGroarty: "We learned a lot... we built a winning culture." More: pens.pe/4ecKdJm

Gonna miss him playing in the states, but hopefully he does well overseas. See ya later, Puusty. Hope all goes well with you.
AHL ➡️ 🌎 Valtteri Puustinen signed a two-year deal with Luleå (SHL) announced by the team following his exit from the Western Conference Finals with Colorado. 27-year-old longtime #WBSPens forward finished 2025-26 with 12G-28A in 59GP. @InsideAHLHockey #AHLFreeAgency26

Something to keep an eye on, but I don’t think it will be true. Doesn’t make sense in terms of location.
Affiliation Rumor: The longest active agreement between ECHL and NHL teams is coming to an end. The @fl_everblades will be the @penguins affiliate replacing the @WheelingNailers

This list means absolutely nothing in the ECHL world. It’s to protect the rights to that player in case they come back overseas or to sign them until the time runs out in the off season.

Wheeling Nailers Protected List for this offseason. Looking at this list, it looks like Gauthier will be in WBS next season. However, we will wait and see.
