I spoke with an old friend yesterday.
Ten years ago, he was the richest among us.
New car.
Expensive clothes.
Everyone wanted to be around him.
Then life happened.
Business collapsed.
Friends disappeared.
Even some relatives stopped picking his calls.
For years, nobody heard from him.
Yesterday, I asked how he survived.
He laughed and said:
"The people who saved me were the ones I once helped when I had nothing to gain."
Then he said something I can't stop thinking about:
"Money introduced me to many people. Hard times revealed the few who actually knew me."
Life is strange.
The crowd usually follows success.
