Launch of the Sarvajana Sarasaviya We launched the Sarvajana Sarasaviya, yesterday, the 12th of June 2026 at the Sarvajana Balaya head office, under the theme "An objective solution for a prosperous nation: Let's break the cycle!" This is as an initiative driven by the Sarvajana Balaya’s Educational Division. The mission of Sarvajana Sarasaviya will be to formulate rational and objective solutions that are essential for a prosperous nation. It is a platform for knowledge-sharing and education, and aims at ending the failed political practice of our country. The launch featured presentations from several resource personnel, including former Member of Parliament and Vice Chairman of Sarvajana Balaya Gamini Waleboda, a respected former Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Inland Revenue, Media Spokesperson of the Sarvajana Balaya Attorney-at-Law and Physician Dr. Priyankara Mahagammulla and the Head of Education of the Sarvajana Balaya Samith Pathirana.

අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය සහ රජය විසින් අ.පො.ස උසස් පෙළ දරුවන් පිළිබඳ කිසිඳු සංවේදිතාවයක් නොමැතිව කල් මැරීම පිළිබඳව දැඩිව කම්පා වෙමි. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් උසස් පෙළ ශිෂ්‍යයෙකුට සිය විෂය නිර්දේශය අවසන් කරමින්, විභාගයට සුදානම් වීම සඳහා මාස 26 ක පමණ කාලයක් හිමි විය යුතුය. නමුත් මාලිමා රජය විසින් 2026 උසස් පෙළ විභාගයට මුහුණ දෙන දරුවන්ගේ කාලයෙන් මාස හයක් උදුරාගෙන අගෝස්තු මාසයේ උසස් පෙළ විභාගය පැවැත්වීමට තීරණය කර තිබේ. මේ දිත්වා සුළි කුණාටුව හේතුවෙන් ද සිය අධ්‍යාපන කටයුතු අඩාල වූ දරු පරම්පරාවකි. එම නිසා රජය විසින් මේ දරඳඬු සහ අමනෝඥ තීරණය වහා හකුලා ගනිමින්, 2026 උසස් පෙළ විභාගයට මුහුණ දෙන සිසු දරුවන්ට සාධාරණය ඉටු කරන ලෙසට බල කරමි. The delays and apparent lack of sensitivity of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and the government towards students facing the G.C.E. A/L examinations this year, is alarming. Advanced Level students should typically have 26 months to complete the prescribed syllabus and prepare for the exam. The government now plans to conduct the 2026 Advanced Level examination in August, effectively taking away an entire 6 months of preparation time. We must not forget that the current student population has faced the brutal Ditwa Cyclone as well, which significantly hampered their education. I strongly urge the government to reconsider and withdraw this harsh and unreasonable pathway provided for students. They will need our immediate consideration as a responsible state, given that this is a crucial point in their lives.

We stand with Major General Suresh Sallay, who is one of Sri Lanka's most distinguished war heroes, a person who deserves our respect and our gratitude, and not public vilification and humiliation. It is deeply disturbing to see the torture this individual is having to go through in the hands of the state authorities. A nation that fails to honour the ultimate sacrifices that people like Major General Suresh Sallay had to make, has failed to understand that values that we all stand for.

It was my pleasure to mee the Deputy High Commissioner of India, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey. He visited us at the Sarvajana Balaya Party Head Office earlier today. During the meeting, a number of important matters pertaining to bilateral ties and the on-going volatility within the global arena was discussed. Today I had the opportunity to meet Prasanth S. Nair, A senior international meditation teacher and a prominent member of the Board of Trustees for The Art of Living Trust. The Art of Living foundation founded by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar, a prominent spiritual leader in India, 45 years ago. The Art of Living programme has created numerous social initiatives that were designed under the spiritual leader's vision. These programmes have been frequented by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan. These initiatives are being carried out across 180 countries inspiring more than a billion people across the world. Prasanth Nair illustrsted how, recently, the 45th anniversary of the Art of Living Foundation and 70th birthday of Gurudev was celebrated, while drawing parellels between the deep spirituality shared between Sri Lanka and India.

Vesak commemorates the threefold sacred events of Lord Buddha's life, which resonate among Buddhists across the world. Among the many traditions and interpretations of Buddhism, Sri Lanka is blessed with a unique celebration of the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. The cultural events associated with Vesak have been built around the advancement of the Buddha Sasana and the responsibility of passing this great heritage on to future generations. However, we celebrate this year's Vesak festival at a time when the Venerable Sangha in our country faces various challenges. This is a time for our nation and the Buddhist community to reflect upon the Most Noble Dhamma and shape our lives, as well as the future of this country, upon its teachings. Today, the teachings of Sammā Sati and Sammā Diṭṭhi are more important than ever before. May this Vesak Full Moon Poya Day be a guiding light towards our collective understanding of these timeless teachings. I extend my heartfelt wishes to the Buddhist community living in Sri Lanka and across the world. May this Vesak Full Moon Poya Day be one of commemoration, peace, compassion, and mindfulness.

I am grateful for the incredible opportunity I recieved to meet the Sri Lankan community living thousands of miles away here in Melbourne. They continue to live with the Sri Lankan spirit in their hearts. Today, our community gathered at the Acacia Campus Theatre in Melbourne, filling the hall to capacity, as a display of incredible warmth and pride for our country. At any moment, they stand ready to contribute towards rebuilding the nation and extending their fullest support for mother Sri Lanka. I witnessed first hand that their eyes were filled with love, hope, and unwavering faith in the future of Sri Lanka. It was a great joy to see that even the next generation, who were born in Australia, are embracing our culture and growing up in harmony with our traditions. They pledged their support towards an entrepreneurial vision that we aim to execute in the future. A vision we have built for our motherland, that is shared by both those living in Sri Lanka and those spread across the world.

It was lovely meeting @BradBattinMP, representing Berwick at the Victoria Parliament. It has been incredible sharing perspectives from the different political atmospheres we face, while exploring the close similarities. Truly grateful for your time and felllowship!

I had the opportunity for an insightful conversation with Evan Mulholland MP at the Parliament of Victoria and Beverley McArther MP and Leader of the Opposition of the Western Victoria Region, Parliament of Victoria. The perspectives shared about how democratic systems have changed at the most granular level, was indeed inspiring. There are a lot of learnings to be taken back to Sri Lanka, and a lot of learnings to share from our domestic experiences. I sincerely thank both leaders and their teams for the wonderful camaraderie and fellowship extended throughout our engagement.

17 years have passed, since the great victory that granted safety to a nation and absolute freedom to its people. The remarkable victory by our brave war heroes against one of the world’s most ruthless and dangerous terrorist movements astonished the world. It was the first time the world had witnessed terrorism being completely defeated, from its very roots. This great military victory was not a triumph for one ethnic group alone. It is a triumph for all Sri Lankans. The greatest beneficiaries of the war victory were our Tamil brothers and sisters. There was once a time when the brutal Tiger leader Prabhakaran hung cyanide capsules around the necks of innocent Tamil children and forcibly placed guns in their hands. By playing our part and launching the “Api Wenuwen Api” campaign, we managed to help change society’s perception of our war heroes. This campaign is one I consider very dear to my heart and one of the greatest achievements of my life. In short, among the thousands of national and international brands I have helped build throughout my professional career, the “Api Wenuwen Api” project remains the work that has given me the greatest sense of fulfillment. Not only after 17 years, but for as long as our motherland exists, the war victory must continue to be commemorated. The sacrifices and heroism of those who took part in it must be honored. That is the greatest responsibility of a civilizational state that has traditionally followed an important value system.

The Mother is the heart of Sri Lankan Culture and Civilization Taking on the responsibility of the wellbeing of ones family, the future of their children, and the challenges of life upon their shoulders, it is mothers who uplift an entire society with hearts filled with love and compassion. That is the reason the policies and fundamentals of our society should be built around her, the one who cares for her loved ones 365 days a year without receiving wages. Mothers are the ones who bear the greatest burdens of the social, economic, and political crises that exist today. Our effort as the Sarvajana Balaya is aimed at reaffirming the respect, dignity, and recognition historically bestowed upon Sri Lankan mothers. Trafigura (Pvt) Ltd., a company that had broken its agreement with the CPC to supply fuel citing issues in the Gulf, had made an unsolicited offer in March this year. The uncontested offer, as opposed to their initial offer of USD4.08 per barrel, was at USD48 per barrel. This purchase was made, according to the government, due to 'special' circumstances. The entire additional cost paid in this regard will have to be borne by the people of this country.
