š§µWhen are we going to have an honest conversation about college baseball bats and exit velocity?
Since BBCOR launched in 2011, Division I teams averaged about 0.52 HR/game and just over 4,000 total home runs.
Today, teams are averaging around 1.2 HR/game, with annual home run totals topping 9,000. That kind of jump should raise questions. Are today's bats performing differently than they did when BBCOR was first implemented?
Who is allowing bats to keep getting hotter? How are they being tested? What are the exit velocity limits during certification, and why isn't that data public? If BBCOR was supposed to make metal bats play more like wood, we've clearly drifted a long way from that goal.
Will Dion has been CALLED UP š
In 11.1 IP this month, Dion has notched 18 Ks and has only allowed one run. The LHP boasts a 0.79 ERA in the month of May.

2027 Brytn Gardner (Sam Houston HS) with a really good first inning of work for the Broncos.
Gives up 1 hit but punches out 3ļøā£ on 17 pitches (65% strikes).
Fastball flashing heavy arm-side run and his changeup is playing well off it.

June pitching training spots are OPEN.
Remote & Hybrid options.
This is for pitchers who want real development:
⢠Pitch design
⢠Command training
⢠Data-driven adjustments
Limited spots.
DM āJUNEā to get in.
šØOne of the most underutilized pitch locations in baseball:šØ
Same sided breaking ball UP & IN.
Pitchers hate it out of hand.
āBacked up⦠going to get crushed.ā
But the data says the opposite:
ā”ļøExtremely low avg EV
ā”ļøSuppresses damage SLG%
Result? Weak contact or a K.
Yes, itās risky:
Miss = middle/middle, up (Damage), or HBP territory.
Thatās why itās avoided.
But thatās also why it works.
Hitters are trained for glove-side/down breakers.
This lives where theyāre uncomfortable.
Especially valuable for command over stuff arms.
Not your go toā¦
ā¦but a weapon you better have.
