Mon histoire. 13-12-1943 ☦️ If you ever wonder where my strength comes from, look to her. Efthymia Vagia, my grandmother, endured what should have broken a human being, and chose to stand anyway. Everything resilient in me began with her. And this is her story. My story. 13-12-1943 ☦️

There are some long-time Liberals upset that I’m running for leader, in part, because I am trying to pull my party back towards liberalism. I believe that: - The law should apply equally to everyone - People should be judged on merit - Markets should be competitive - Opportunity must be real for all - Government should be secular - Speech should be free - Excellence should be celebrated These values are simple, but they are good, and our politics has wandered too far away from them.

Canadians are borrowing money faster than their incomes are growing. People owe more on mortgages, credit cards, and other loans. Even though incomes may be increasing, debt is increasing even more. This has been happening for about a year and a half. As a result, many households are becoming more financially stretched.
Household debt outpaced income so far this year ctvnews.ca/business/inflatio…

Some people are so consumed by darkness that they mistake it for reality. They look at an entire community and see only their own prejudices. I look at the Somali Canadian community and see entrepreneurs, doctors, educators, journalists, community leaders, and families who have overcome extraordinary adversity to build successful lives in Canada. Their accomplishments are a testament to resilience. The negativity of others is merely a testament to their own limitations. One of the most inspiring success stories in Canada is the story of Somali Canadians. Many Somali Canadians arrived in this country after fleeing war, instability, and unimaginable hardship. They came seeking safety, opportunity, and a better future for their families. Despite facing barriers, discrimination, and the challenge of starting over, they persevered and built thriving communities from coast to coast. (UNHCR Canada) The Calgary Herald recently highlighted the story of Dr. Hussein Warsame, who arrived in Canada as a refugee and faced significant obstacles despite holding an MBA from a respected American university. Rather than giving up, he continued his education, earned a PhD, became an award winning professor at the University of Calgary, and emerged as one of the most respected leaders in the Somali Canadian community. His story is a powerful reminder that resilience and determination can overcome even the greatest challenges. Another remarkable example is Dr. Fahima Osman. Arriving in Canada as a Somali refugee at the age of 11, she dreamed of becoming a doctor despite being told by some that her goal was unrealistic. Through hard work and perseverance, she became the first Canadian trained physician from Toronto’s Somali community, later becoming one of Canada’s leading breast cancer surgeons, an entrepreneur, mentor, and healthcare innovator. Today, her work is improving the lives of cancer patients across Canada while inspiring a new generation of young Canadians to dream big. We can also look to the remarkable legacy of Hodan Nalayeh, the Somali Canadian journalist, storyteller and entrepreneur who dedicated her life to showcasing the beauty, culture and potential of Somalia and the Somali diaspora. Through her media platform, Integration TV, she challenged stereotypes and highlighted stories of hope, entrepreneurship and success. Even after her tragic death in a terrorist attack in Somalia in 2019, her message continues to inspire people around the world: tell your own story, be proud of your heritage, and never let others define your community. Her optimism, courage and commitment to uplifting others remain a powerful example for Canadians of all backgrounds. These stories are not exceptions. They are examples of what is possible in Canada. Across our country, Somali Canadians are contributing as business owners, doctors, lawyers, educators, engineers, public servants, community leaders, athletes, and philanthropists. They are creating jobs, raising families, mentoring young people, and helping build a stronger and more prosperous Canada. What makes Canada special is that success is not determined by where you come from. It is determined by your character, your work ethic, your values, and your willingness to contribute. The Somali Canadian community embodies the very best of the Canadian story, resilience, perseverance, entrepreneurship, and optimism. Their success is Canada’s success. Thank you to the Somali Canadian community for your leadership, your contributions, and for helping make Canada one of the greatest countries in the world. 🇨🇦❤️ theglobeandmail.com/canada/a… calgaryherald.com/news/natio… cbc.ca/documentaries/short-d…

Keep it up Mario. You’re becoming persuasive. Parliament is currently studying proposals to establish Somali Heritage Month and Arab Heritage Month. I wonder how you as a self-appointed political expert will predict Conservatives vote. A friendly reminder that under a Conservative government, Parliament recognized: • October, Islamic History Month (2007) • June, National Indigenous History Month (2009) I’ll leave those facts here for your teleprompter reading birdbrain to ponder over the weekend. Facts can be stubborn things.
Replying to @DimitrisSoudas
I think you do a great job of showcasing yourself as a Liberal. Touting Liberal talking points. We do not need more division. No more months. We are all equal. Everything you describe is applicable to everyone. We don’t need heritage anything for any race.
