New global research from the PURE study, published in
@LancetLongevity, reveals that millions of people in low- and middle income countries are developing walking 🚶♀️ limitations up to 12 years earlier than those in high-income settings.
Tracking more than 150,000 adults across 25 countries over 14.5 years, the study shows that modifiable factors such as low education,
#obesity, hypertension, poor diet, physical inactivity, and stroke account for nearly one-third of walking 👩🦽 limitations and almost half of premature deaths.
Disability and mortality share common roots. Investing in
#prevention through education, healthier environments, and better control of cardiometabolic risks can help people not only live longer, but live longer with
#mobility, independence, and dignity.
