We will be updating our safety scoring to differentiate between these for sterility. Spot checking a few vendor COAs and they do indeed fall under the PCR based methods.
Important note for clients submitting injectable samples: Microarray and PCR-based screens are not USP <71> sterility tests, and they are not recognized as compendial sterility methods under USP <71>, <72>, or <73>. USP <71>, <72>, and <73> remain the official compendial sterility tests for injectable products. Rapid or molecular methods may have research or screening value, but they should not be represented as USP sterility testing unless they fully meet the applicable USP compendial requirements and validation expectations. Always ask the lab: “Is this a true USP compendial sterility test (<71/72/73>), or a non-compendial rapid method?” Your compliance depends on clear answers. #USP #SterilityTesting #PharmaQC

We now filter out anything below a 70 score from appearing in price comparisons. This includes any vendor we don’t have enough data on yet. Why? We have made it extremely easy to find reliable vendors whose values align with ours in terms of testing and transparency.

Despite everything and according to our analytics … a large portion of people still will choose cheapest price regardless of lacking testing and transparency.

We're refining how Disclosed Labs scores vendor identity vs vendor product. Great COAs, but the business is anonymous. Product's real; the people are invisible. Where should that land on a trust score?

Quite a few vendors are now testing for all of these.
The peptide testing bar: 1. Identity - is it the right molecule? 2. Purity - how clean is it? 3. Mass spec - does it weigh what it should? 4. Net content - is there as much as the label says? 5. Endotoxin - fever risk? 6. Sterility - any bacteria at all? 7. Microbial - how much bacterial load? 8. Heavy metals - lead/mercury/arsenic? Most “COAs” run 1-2 of these. The full panel is the actual bar.

Thinking out loud on an open-source RUO model: A decentralized group-ordering platform for research-use-only peptides. Flow: 1. Participants select prepay for a specific RUO peptide 2. Demand is aggregated into one larger manufacturer order 3. Product is made by a qualified manufacturer 4. Bulk is sent to a U.S. vialing labeling partner 5. Multiple vials from the batch are sent to independent testing facilities 6. Testing costs are shared across participants 7. Remaining inventory goes to a warehouse 8. Warehouse distributes the labeled RUO products back to the original participants The goal isn’t to create another gray-market peptide brand. The goal is to make the process transparent: - open-source ordering logic - visible batch tracking - shared-cost third-party testing - multiple independent lab results per batch - standardized labeling - clear chain of custody - no medical claims - no human-use marketing documented quality controls Operationally, the model is straightforward. The idea: Take the messy decentralized group-buy behavior that already exists and replace it with a transparent, auditable, compliance-first version. Who wants to explore this with me?

@ogsvg would love your perspective on this. It’s obviously not the telehealth future but I think it’s interesting regardless.
