Regarding AI Art used by food vendors at DoKomi (on flyers, banners, or whatever else):
The DoKomi Orga is not involved in the selection of food vendors, nor do they know in advance who is attending. Consequently, they cannot issue instructions to these vendors or demand that they take down their banners. This matter lies entirely in the hands of Messe Düsseldorf (the convention center owners).
The Dokomi Staff only sees what shows up during the setup phase, at which point they might ask if a specific item can be taken down. But if the vendors refuse, they cannot force them to do so.
So, if you are pissed off about the presence of AI Art at food stalls, the DoKomi organizing team is not the right oneto address (they are just as pissed off about it as the rest of us); instead, you should direct your complaints to Messe Düsseldorf or the individual food vendors themselves.
Dokomi has a very clear stance on AI: AI Art is strictly prohibited—regardless of where or by whom it is used: on banners, at vendor booths, at VTuber/Creator booths, on Itashas... The Info that the rules only count for the Artist Halls ist false. However, things inevitably slip through -even things that seem glaringly obvious - simply because there are a million different items at DoKomi, and the organizers and volunteers are only human.
I personally witnessed an artist's booth in my row being shut down last year due to the use of AI Art; similarly, I saw an itasha being made to leave the exhibition hall this year. -> Yes, if you report AI Art or other rule violations to the staff, there will be consequences. I saw it happening myself.
You should speak directly to the staff/helpers on-site, or tag them on Discord (there are multiple discords btw; the normal public one, but there is also one for Artists, Cosplayers and Vtubers where they can adress issues to the staff and get answers more quickly).
Doing it this way, also prevents genuine artists from being falsly accused in front of a massive audience. Who benefits if we start viewing genuine artists as collateral damage, just to harm some AI bros who dont care anyways, bcs they have no emotional connection to their work? Whereas on the other side stand artists who pour their entire selves into their craft and can suffer devastating harm from such allegations (which is all the more ironic, given that the initial intention was to help precisely these artists).
I am not imputing malicious intent to anyone in this situation, but this is a responsibility one must be fully aware of; and that responsibility weighs heavier the larger your following ist.
Furthermore, please also consider that during an ongoing event, where so many things are happening simultaneously, the scope for immediate action is necessarily limited.
Dokomi is not perfect, but they do so much more than other Cons - and it must be super frustrating for them, when they are contantly trying to make things right and than they only ever get shit, for things they cant influence. How about trying to work with them instead of against them and actually make the con better?
ok... boi thats a large text... tldr pls...
