If you haven’t read this book, do so. I’ve been recommending it for over a decade so I also take anyone not having read it personally.

I was finally found out! I was told it was funny but should probably be changed for my promotion portfolio.
I have to submit my CV for a periodic review and in updating it was reminded that I titled the section with conference talks "Uninvited Talks". At least I make myself laugh.

Anyone have a list of ecology and evolution journals that do registered reports? There's: Nature Ecology & Evolution Ecology & Evolution PLOS Biology BMC Ecology Animal Behavior & Cognition Who else? Preference for no APCs. @ASanchez_Tojar @sortecoevo

Just a reminder, if you’re at #ABS2023 , ask @KateLaskowski or I about these travel fellowships!
If you're interested in learning about the @SQuID_Group Travel Fellowships, both @KateLaskowski and I will be at #ABS2023. We're happy to talk about the program in general, host labs, possible projects, etc. Reach out to either of us to learn more! x.com/SQuID_Group/status/167…

Any in my scientist network on spoutible? Mastodon seems pretty unwieldy and bluesky is run by an anti-vaxxer tech bro.

Replying to @itchyshin
@itchyshin & @sogohae: I had a conversation today about AI models and their ability to write code. I always forget how to get the fixed effects variances from lme4 and MCMCglmm models so I thought this would be a good and relatively easy problem. It wasn't. 1/

This is a very niche application but I gave the needed sources, which weren't accessed. It looks like it will cite the sources you provide but not actually incorporate them. I'd seen some discussion that it will scrape as you work, seems not (yet). 4/

I guess I'll keep rewriting code anew every time. I could write functions and make a personal library. That would be the naturally intelligent thing to do. Unfortunately, the last almost 20 years demonstrate that's not likely to happen. That says a lot too! 5/5
