Oh, sad news. We've lost Simon Fisher Becker, the wonderful Dorium Maldovar from The Pandorica Opens, A Good Man Goes To War, and The Wedding Of River Song. Simon was gentle and funny and a comedy delight, on screen and off. He first played Dorium in the pre-titles of Pandorica. I missed his day filming, but remember Toby Haynes, the director, texting me that Simon really "had it" and I should bring him back. I watched the rushes and agreed: a whole scene with River Song where I actually took my eyes off Alex Kingston. So back he came, in a much larger role. And got beheaded. Mixed signals for Simon, I guess. I made it up to him by bringing him back one more time, now as a disembodied head, for the finale of season 6. He closed out that year's Doctor Who intoning the words "doctor who?" from inside his personal head-box. He was delighted - and as always, delightful. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.
