I want folks to compare
@NameBio's weak arguments with regards to their refusal to restore proper citations and attribution for original researchers like myself, with the NameBio TOS:
namebio.com/tos
"1.5 Intellectual Property Rights
All domain sales data, compilations, and databases available through the Service are the proprietary intellectual property of NameBio. This data represents substantial investment in collection, verification, organization, and maintenance. Unauthorized extraction, reproduction, or redistribution of this data constitutes:
(a) Infringement of NameBio's database rights and copyrights in the compilation and arrangement of data;
(b) Misappropriation of trade secrets;
(c) Unfair competition and unjust enrichment."
Notice how they claim "all domain sales data" (including those first reported by me!) are the "proprietary intellectual property of NameBio."
Bullshit, and I will keep calling out their unethical behaviour.
It's hypocritical that they want others to respect their "substantial investment", but they'll erase the "substantial investment" of others that they then merge into their own site, without any citations/attribution.
