Metal weight at the end of a long stick will always be the greatest hard counter to plate armor, just because its not piercing it doesn't mean all that kinetic energy is going away, a good swing is breaking ribs and causing internal bleeding not to mention the reach advantage.
It’s such a common and annoying misconception that somehow an ordinary melee weapon can “hard counter” plate armor
It’s not a video game. A halberd is no more effective against armor than any other melee weapon. That’s why spears were still used even in the age of gunpowder.

While I normally would defend the devs here calling it a violation of trust seems extreme, this was an informal public meeting in a country that has 1 party consent recording by a community that has been jerked around in the past by broken promises. Its not nice, but it's legal.
