What a privilege to teach a unit of Mediating the Litigated Case recently at @StrausInstitute@pepperdine !
Working with a room full of top litigators and mediators, we interactively analyzed exaggerated human behavior and decision-making in the crucible of high-stakes game shows. This provided a practical lens to apply what they've learned about advanced risk assessment and settlement dynamics.
It's a tough crowd, so their kind reviews were truly welcome, including:
“Mr. Philbin was exceptional. His discussion of the dynamics of 'Deal or No Deal' and 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' were not only extremely insightful but also highly entertaining. He was fabulous.”
Thank you to @StrausInstitute and Stephanie Blondell for another opportunity to sharpen with leading professionals.

Honored to receive a Band 1 ranking in the 2025 Chambers USA guide for Mediators.
The Chambers editorial recognizes me as a thought leader and highlights feedback from anonymous reviewers describing me as a "quick study," “thorough, intelligent, and hard-working,” and skilled at “communicating both strengths and weaknesses.”

I'm honored to again be recognized alongside 50 exceptional colleagues from across the country by @ChambersGuides in its USA – Nationwide – #Mediators category with another “Band 1” ranking (16 mediators). It turns on anonymous reviews by mediation users, for which I’m thankful.
Research psychologist who transformed “economics into a true behavioral science rather than a mere mathematical exercise” passed this week. With Prof. Tversky, he exposed hard-wired, universal brain “kinks” that predictably impact human decisions.
