“The word “decision,” like the word “incision,” involves the image of cutting. A decision cuts off possibilities, and these were real possibilities; otherwise no cutting would have been necessary.”

G. K. Chesterton explains that reading gives a man more lives than he was born with:
“A man who has read a thousand books is armed for life; a man who has read none is easy prey. The man who has read a thousand books has lived a thousand lives. He has seen cities he has never visited, spoken to men who died centuries ago, and walked in worlds that no longer exist. Reading does not merely inform him; it enlarges him. It stretches the boundaries of his own experience until he becomes something more than himself.”
Diagnostic tests are used to disconfirm (rule out) a clinical hypothesis. This means that, no matter how robust the diagnostic accuracy of the test itself, the helpfulness of its results really are only as good as the quality of the clinical reasoning that led to conducting it.
My kid just started playing baseball. He wants to play short stop but he won’t on this team.
I know it’s a controversial stance for me to take as a parent, but I believe it’s because the other kid is better.
I got this photo from the family, but Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson-Newman will be wearing stickers honoring former Eagle/Bear offensive lineman Colt Sinor.
Sinor passed away from cancer in June and was beloved by all. I know our family sure misses him!

Start of fall lot of time will be spent on receiving skills but more importantly is time spent w/C’s teaching about being a servant leader to team and P staff.
ALT You will never make a good impression on other people until you stop thinking about what sort of impression you are making. Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it. The principle runs through all life from top to bottom. Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favourite wishes every day and death of your whole body in the end: submit with every fibre of your being, and you will find eternal life.
