GUILTERS: Michael Jackson was acquitted for two reasons: the jury was starstruck and they hated Janet Arvizo. They were so blinded by Jackson’s fame and were too focused on the mother’s disastrous testimony that they ignored all the evidence and voted not guilty on all counts.
REALITY: According to jury foreman, Paul Rodriquez, the reason why it took them 7 days to deliberate is because 6 jurors felt that Jackson was innocent, 3 felt that he was guilty, and 3 weren’t sure. As a result, they ended up having to go through every single piece of evidence thoroughly until everyone came to an agreement. It was 14 charges all together, so it was going to take some time. After looking at all the evidence, including a read back of Gavin Arvizo’s testimony, and following the jury instructions, they came to a verdict of “not guilty” on all counts.
