It means so much to Barack and me to open up the Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago. This is where I grew up, where Barack got his start, and where we raised our girls. So having a place where kids from our community can see themselves, connect with each other, and channel their hope—there’s nothing more powerful than that.

Note that this particular defamation is reserved for Mrs. Obama. Republicans despise Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Jill Biden but you’ll never see them attacking their femininity. That indignity is hurled solely at Black women. “And so there's this intersectionality between racism and sexism that was on full display at the White House,” explained Hostin. “The crowd laughed at the statement and the President of the United States smirked and never addressed what was said. That is beneath the dignity of the office of the President of the United States and it's beneath the dignity of the American people.” While we agree in principle, unfortunately nothing is “beneath the office of the presidency” while Donald Trump remains in the Oval Office.
