With 2 outs and the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year representing the tying run at the plate, Coach Steve Sabins tapped the Bridgeport, WV native to get the 1-out save. “McDougal has had ice water in his veins man, he’s a killer. He’s one of the most quiet guys, and humble guys. He’s from the state of West Virginia and in every big moment he’s ever been put in he’s basically been himself or elevated.”

Potomac State College alum Ben McDougal recorded the save in West Virginia's College World Series victory over Troy today. With two outs and a runner on, McDougal entered and induced a pop-up to secure a 7-5 win. Read more: times-news.com/sports/local_…

The Potomac State grad has pitched in three of WVU's biggest games in program history during this run. He saved the season against Kentucky in an elimination game, then retired the side vs. Cal Poly to send the Mountaineers to Omaha.

Potomac State alum spent the last two seasons as HC of Coastal Carolina. He's the only coach to win his College World Series debut and one of four to reach the CWS in his first year as head coach.

Brown finished his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina, playing for another Potomac State grad in Kevin Schnall. Schnall was recently hired as the head baseball coach at South Carolina.
