🎉 SUCCESS! 🎉 The court agrees the decision to grant new oil & gas licences in protected areas needs more scrutiny. We’ve been given permission to proceed our case! Next year we’ll be back in court to argue why the licences were granted unlawfully. Big Oil, we're coming for you.
This another great piece of work by RCPCH emphasising the impact of air pollution on children and what every health professional, parent and citizen needs to know.
Today we are launching a new position statement on air pollution. It highlights recent evidence on the child health impacts of indoor and outdoor air pollution, and includes specific policy recommendations for key govt departments.

ALT We strongly support the recommendations in this report. Children are among the most vulnerable to the health impacts of climate change, which is driven by our dependence on fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuels accelerates global warming, leading to extreme weather events, the spread of infectious diseases, and toxic air pollution that can damage children's lungs and brains, as well as affect unborn babies.

This makes me sad. If all health professionals could stand beside their Colleges, RCN and GMC and talk about the climate and health crisis together it would have such power rather than the current division which plays into the hands of those who would prefer us to stay quiet.

BREAKING 🚨 Govt has announced 31 NEW oil & gas licences🤯
21 of those are INSIDE our marine protected areas 🤯🤯☠️
HOW is this protection? Rigs & exploration kill wildlife, destroy habitats & pollute our seas, they have NO place in ocean havens.
RT to stop this being buried
how are we going to explain this travesty to our children? More oil and gas exploration, more destruction of our precious marine environment, more climate change, more health impacts
"Given the evidence on climate change and its health impacts, we strongly believe peaceful protest should not be viewed as condemnable professional misconduct – but as commendable public health advocacy."

The climate crisis is a health crisis. Protecting our seas from oil and gas extraction and protecting our marine life is an essential part of addressing the threat to human health and our children’s future.
