Dr Nick - this is the single biggest threat to general practice & affordable patient care. NSW political parties were completely silent leading up to the election - cowards. Itās guaranteed my practices will increase fees by $15 immediately. @RACGPPresident @RACGP #sicktax

Strongly agree with @amapresident It's hard to see this as anything other than a play by States and Territories to cost shift Medicare money into their treasuries. It will make primary care more expensive and erode any benefit from rebate increases. It's a tax on patients.

Proposed changes to payroll tax by the NSW Govt could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Poor indexation of Medicare and rising costs have already put GPs on the back foot.
We need to invest more in general practice, not place more burdens on GPs.
