Congratulations to Carl W. Seward, who @mocoboe appointed as Supervisor, Secondary Math, Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs, Office of Teaching, Learning, and Schools!
This afternoon, I told my kids I was sad because it's raining in Traverse City, and I was hoping for snow. So, what did they do? They all went to their windows to show me the snow in Ann Arbor. #whyiteach
My favorite virtual teaching moment this year, just in time for #WinterBreak:
@A2Thurston’s @PLTWorg teacher Mary Manthey literally baked cookies in her kitchen while on Zoom with her students to teach physical and chemical changes! Talk about glass half full!
In one of my very first interviews I was asked, “Who are you?” And I responded, “I’m just a kid from the hood looking to help kids from the hood.” And it’s still remains true today.
Educators, if you’re not having fun, neither are your students. There’s nothing wrong with having fun during the storm. -Dr. Adolph Brown @docspeaks#MEMSPA20
As a Norfolk, VA native myself, great to see the connections with Dr. Brown both attending ODU and William & Mary, too!
"Have the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality!" @PaulLiabenow ending Day 1 of #MEMSPA20 with a bang (and a great reminder)!
"People at home give us latitude because we never give them the best of us when we get home because we are still at school, we never turn off." @Joe_Sanfelippo's story about being unresponsive to his kids after school hit TOO CLOSE to home! #BePresent#MEMSPA20
Listening to @GaryVee stress the importance of teamwork and building collective efficacy and then internalizing it from an EDUCATIONAL perspective seems mind-blowingly true:
"Do you know how fast you can go when everybody feels safe and knows what everybody else is good at?"
LOVE this! Kids thrive on connections and relationships—I think as a QB, this is probably as vulnerable as it gets for you! #RelationshipsFirst#RelationshipsAlways
A student raised their hand during class today as I was teaching and asked me to come to their desk. They pointed at their laptop screen, which was showing my high school stats, and asked why I threw so many interceptions. For the first time in my life I was utterly speechless.
DIGITAL FITNESS CALENDAR for the month of October! A great way to keep kids active at home! Make a copy to use with your students: docs.google.com/presentation…
When I need a pick-me-up, now more often than ever, & I need to be reminded of the MOST IMPORTANT things in my life, I rewatch @MyMar184 reading the letter from his father @TheMackMan2.
Losing my own father & now being a father x3, this is important!

I made breakout room choice doors where Ss will "go" to during their work time. We're using Google Meet & I plan to link different Meet links to each 🚪so Ss can collaborate, work alone, or get extra help. Honoring differences & personalizing instruction!

There’s nothing quite like relentlessly, fearlessly, and unapologetically standing up for the social and emotional needs and RIGHTS of your students, ensuring they feel safe and welcomed, only to be let down and unsupported by your school district.
