Why this matters: IUBT can be life-saving, but monitoring metals in transfusion materials may help reduce avoidable fetal exposures. @WHO @FIGOHQ

Our prospective cohort study found Hg, Cd, Pb, & As in nearly all maternal/cord blood samples and in every intrauterine transfusion RBC unit. Higher metal levels, especially Hg/As, were linked to small decreases in early developmental scores. doi.org/10.3390/toxics131210… @Toxics_MDPI

PFAS (“forever chemicals”) are tough to remove. In this study, researchers found a new material that rapidly captures #PFOA with very high capacity; heating breaks down ~54% and the material can be reused, suggesting a practical approach for #PFAS cleanup. doi.org/10.1002/adma.2025098…

As homes fill with new gadgets this festive season, it’s worth remembering what happens to the old ones. Phones, fridges or laptops don’t just disappear. The 🌎 generates 62M tonnes of e-waste every year. Smarter design, stronger rules & better recycling can help #BeatWastePollution: bit.ly/492V3iv

LOW IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT Onions are the 4th lowest carbon footprint out of the most popular vegetables. Onions also require relatively few resources to grow, such as land, water & pesticides, and are often sold loose rather than in plastic packaging. 🦋LJC #globalwarming #plasticpollution #Nature #resources #conservation #Food

Freezing to 0 F inactivates any microbes like bacteria, yeasts, and molds. Once thawed, they can become active and multiply, increasing the risk of foodborne illness. Always handle thawed foods like perishables to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria! ➡️ fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/sa…
