Half term featuring fossils, sunshine, sunsets, a strawberry moon, birdsong, wildlife watching? oh and ending with me full of cold and little A getting a visit from the vomit comet…all about balance
Had a really interesting afternoon at @CatalystSDC learning about forensic anthropology and having a go at reconstructing a face, working from the skull and then adding each of the muscles. It was really hard though!
Forget-me-not fun fact: the yellow ring at the flower’s centre fades to white after pollination, signalling to insects there’s no more nectar. The insects therefore learn to visit the flowers that haven’t yet been pollinated, ensuring no forget-me-not flower is forgotten 🤙
Messing about in the kitchen in the name of explaining chylomicrons….secretly having lots of fun doing this! Here I present some pretend plasma with a pretend chylomicron top made with stuff from the cupboard/fridge
ALT A small glass filled with pale yellow liquid, most of the liquid is transparent but there is a thin creamy yellow layer on the top.
Little A and I have been making a board game together called enchanted challenges. A roll to move game with a few mystery cards & some sleeping dragons that wake up and chase you around the board. It’s been a challenging make but we’ve had a great time testing it this afternoon!
ALT A picture of a board game, a yellow path of squares. Some of the squares have a blue or red dot and some a question mark
ALT A playing piece on a board game. The piece is made of three beads glued together to look like a body, a head and a hair bun
ALT A picture of the playing board and a mystery cards that reads “the witch of the forest just cast a switcheroo curse, swap your playing piece with the player on your left”
Morning folks! Kiera here, and today I’m noticing lovely bluebells.
In the 60 seconds it takes you to read this thread, I'm going to tell you HOW TO NOTICE A NATIVE BLUEBELL. I promise it’s easier than you think.
Today’s adventure with @rachelmtrimmer as a series of signs
ALT The front door of Clarks Brothers in Manchester. It’s red and has five glass panels. The middle panel is diamond shaped and has a transfer of a clown illustration
ALT A selection of screen printed signs from Clarks brothers. There are six shelves filled with signs printed on fluorescent orange, white or fluorescent yellow paper. They have black type showing a range of phrases, for example, “thieves will be prosecuted” “please walk around without obligation”
ALT An orange and grey sign that says “out of order” hung on the black curtain of a Photo Booth
ALT An illuminated sign with red text that reads “wait here to be seated. Thanks you please!”

This chart illustrates how the number of Crayola crayon colours doubles every 28 years. 🖍️
According to Crayola's law (yes, it's a thing), by 2050 toddlers will have to choose from a whopping 330 colours.
