That’s the 2nd Fianna Fáil TD that has had to step down from the Chairperson position of an Oireachtas committee this year for reckless decision making behind the wheel of a vehicle
Transport Minister Daragh O’Brien needs to speak to his FF colleagues about example setting
€8,500 worth of grants & trade-ins available for electric cars… and still no sign of a bike scheme for people in non-typical employment or to trade a car in for a cargo-bike
Show us your budget, and we’ll show you your priorities 🙄

The recent College Green consultation report has come in and it had 81% public support which is great to see for the preliminary design stage
Next Steps:
Detail Design is refining the project and a full planning application will go to an Coimisiún Pleanála during the Summer
Massive delays on the DART due to a crash at Serpentine Ave.
There was a plan to remove these level crossings and to build a network that doesn't just break due to external actors.
The government never funded. Think about that as you stand in a roasting carraige going nowhere.
Diesel has been leaking in to the Liffey from Irish Rail’s depot’s for FIFTEEN MONTHS and it still hasn’t been resolved
Absolutely outrageous that this is allowed to persist into our waterways from our public transport operators

Dublin Bikes was setup as an advertising contract & JCDecaux own all the infrastructure
When the contract ends, everything gets removed (it’s old anyway & unlikely to be compatible with new offerings)
DCC intend to own the next scheme themselves

FF Finance Minister meets FF Transport Minister to discuss delivery of Dart South West, a project neither of them have funded as the respective Government Ministers’ 🙄
*Spoilers*
It’s not “on track” because there’s no money for the tracks!!

Dublin Bus has a book club for anyone looking for recommendations and already at the end of the #Booktok list
Book club members even get a 10% discount in Chapters

“If all of that money was put into light rail, you could have maybe six Luas lines in Dublin for the same price.”
This is the same Michael McDowell who was famously one of the main objectors to the Luas; saying it was an ‘expensive toy train set’ 🙄

This is obviously worst case scenario planning… but it’s really exposing just how bad Dublin gets hit by volatile fossil fuel prices
Government didn’t fund BusConnects expansions in 2026 & haven’t funded 3 of the Dublin Luas projects… 🤷🤷♀️
m.independent.ie/irish-news/…
JR’s have been cleared for Finglas Luas, there are lots of questions remaining since the lands now won’t be purchased for the project
Also, Government still haven’t funded construction until at least 2029 so it won’t be happening anytime soon

Day 4 of the fuel protests
* O’Connell St is still blocked
* Green line still not running cross city
* Bus diversion info on the Operators websites
* Big blockade on the M50 Northbound at J3
Lots of bike share schemes in the City & Suburbs for those who want to cycle
Day 3 of the fuel protests and the massive disruptions continue. Government have announced that the defense forces will be deployed to start removing vehicles this morning
We recommend the Transit App for realtime tracking, please share your bus location & help people get around
Massive disruptions continue today due to the fuel protests in the City Centre causing lots of diversions & delays to buses & trams
Green Line Luas isn’t operating between St Stephen’s Green & Dominick stops

We spoke to @rtenews Morning Ireland earlier about the departure of Sean Sweeney & the impact to MetroLink’s delivery timeline

Mostly it’s because consecutive Governments haven’t prioritised, nor funded public Transport properly
It’s 20 years since the Green & Red line Luas launched… there’s a million more cars on Irish roads in that time
They’re still underfunding it as well

Another Airport bus gets withdrawn from service because of corporate profit margins
Meanwhile, the M50 is still at capacity and Government are removing the airport cap
The bus operator has said the "significant" financial losses that the services are incurring was the reason for it taking the decision
rte.ie/news/ireland/2026/032…
Government must prioritise sustainable transport in any emergency relief funding
The solution to the rising cost of oil will never be tax reduction. It’s better cycling infrastructure, more frequent & reliable public transport and Work from Home measures
