New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham responds in our lawsuit against her illegal “universal” daycare scheme. Can the Executive Branch create and expand a major public program before receiving clear legislative authorization, then argue the issue no longer matters once the Legislature acts later? The State says the case is over. We respectfully disagree. At stake is more than one program. At stake is whether constitutional limits still matter, whether the separation of powers still matters, and whether government officials must follow the same laws they expect everyone else to follow.

BREAKING: New Mexico Governor MLG’s response to our lawsuit over “universal child care” is now public. Today, New Mexicans can read the State’s arguments for themselves (🔗 Link in comments). This case raises a simple but important question: Can the Executive Branch create and expand a major public program before receiving clear legislative authorization, then argue the issue no longer matters once the Legislature acts later? The State says the case is over. We respectfully disagree. At stake is more than one program. At stake is whether constitutional limits still matter, whether the separation of powers still matters, and whether government officials must follow the same laws they expect everyone else to follow. Transparency matters. Accountability matters. The Constitution matters.

Do you recognize this Albuquerque home? This is the home of Walter White from Breaking Bad. Tongue in cheek? Absolutely. But the message is serious. New Mexico families should not spend a lifetime paying rent to the government through endless property taxes on the homes they already own. If we can afford billions in new spending, we can afford to let working families, retirees, and teachers keep more of what they earn. Homeownership should still mean something.

Honored to announce the endorsement of Ambassador Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell ). Former Acting Director of National Intelligence. Former United States Ambassador to Germany. Former President of the Trump-Kennedy Center. One of the most consequential conservative leaders in America. Richard Grenell is a fighter. He came to New Mexico and campaigned for President Trump in 2024. He believes in this state. And he believes in what we are building here. The people who matter are paying attention. New Mexico is ready.

I didn't come from privilege — I came from the projects of Alamogordo. There are my roots; I was raised in Silver City and Alamogordo. I know what it means to stretch a dollar, rely on food stamps, and find hope in the toughest of circumstances. Those humble beginnings didn't hold me back — they built the foundation for everything I would become. Through hard work, grit, and determination, I climbed the ladder and lived the true New Mexico experience — proving that where you start doesn't determine where you finish. On the track field, a young me learned discipline, perseverance, and what it means to push through when things get hard. Those same lessons drive me today. "Remember where you come from" — because it never leaves you. It shapes you. It fuels you. And for me, it is the very heart of why I fight for every New Mexican who is still running their race. I lived the New Mexico experience and as Governor, I promise I will make this example clear to many upcoming generations. People first. Period.

Decades in power and this is the thanks you get, sorted into who they need and who they don’t. New Mexico deserves a governor who fights for all of us…not whatever this is from Michelle Lujan Grisham.

New Mexico is not a poor state. It is a poorly run state. We spend billions on healthcare every year, yet too many families still wait weeks or months for appointments, specialty care, diagnostic tests, and treatment. The goal isn’t to spend more money. The goal is to deliver more medicine to more patients. As someone who has built hospitals and clinics, recruited physicians, managed healthcare systems, and helped reform Medicaid, I know New Mexico can do better. Healthcare is not measured by how much government spends. It is measured by whether patients can get care when they need it and where they need it. People first. Period.

In sports, you can’t be both the player and the referee. In politics, some people try anyway. New Mexico deserves leaders who respect the rules, compete with integrity, and remember the game is about the people watching from the stands — not the insiders on the field.

A judge has ruled that @NewMexicoGOP Chair Amy Barela must resig as party chair. The ruling comes as plantiffs including @DukeforNM and @ABDforNM have filed suit stating that Barela has used her position to favor candidates in primaries, a violation of party bylaws.

The status quo lost today, and the people who actually do the work: the precinct chairs, the volunteers, the donors who give twenty dollars instead of twenty thousand, they won. This is exactly the kind of fight will take to take to Santa Fe as Governor. The political class in this state has had its turn. Now it's the people's turn.

“Republican voters don't want a better negotiator with Democrats. We want someone who can defeat Democrats and win over public opinion to reverse misguided policies, starting with rescinding the governor's electric vehicle mandates, repealing the so-called Immigrant Safety Act and other job-killing legislation, and embracing the lifeblood of New Mexico's economy, oil and natural gas.” Check out Jeff Tucker’s opinion piece in the Albuquerque Journal:

Every politician promises to “cut taxes.” I’m done with that. As Governor, I’ll ELIMINATE them — state income tax, retail sales tax, and property tax on homes you own. Gone.
