Starting a pinned master thread to track how I am progressing with translating《西湖梦寻》to Hungarian. 1. The Large Buddha Head《大佛头》where we learn that opportunists were always despised and rightfully so.

I really, no, REALLY want to dig into the Ming dynasty: social history, philosophy, art, law, etc. I have a few books like the mammoth tome by Charles O. Hucker on the history of the Ming censorial office, but recommend me more. Primary and secondary literature, please.

Hanshan: "Hey, Shide, they say we'll be left behind if we don't use this shiny, new thing." Shide: "Oh no..." Together: "...anyway." Today I've come home to Cold Mountain To pillow my head on the stream and wash my ears.

I keep forgetting not to post in the morning because I am /- 5 hours early/late because of time zones. So, anyone better at Chinese than I am, care to advise?
Looking for advice on a translation for a seal. Back in the day, talking about 23 years ago, like all edgy teens, I tried to write poetry, but thank 天 I had enough self-criticism to stop while I was ahead of myself and my ego. There is just one ditty I kept around from then.🧵

太極 The supreme ultimate Ceramic seal, glazed, bronzeware script Another thing I love clay seals for is that if you don't drown it in seal paste, it beautifully highlights the porous texture of the clay imprint surface. It's not uniform vermillion red, there are myriad shades.

Been making a series of new ceramic seals from scratch all morning. It's going to be a set of larger, but thinner set of seals around a series of personal-cultural topics. Love the physicality of working with clay, molding it into different shapes, forms based on the inscriptions

其美更無右 Here 無右 stands in for 無出其右 meaning nothing can stand beside it, in other words that something is unmatched. Here I used 其 instead of 之 for the sole reason that in seal script I like the former more than the latter. Any reason 之 would be better anyway?

Also, is the rhyme pattern correct? 诗 有 李 右 I'm pretty sure about 有-右, not that sure about 诗-李. So, please let me know what you think and thank you in advance for your thoughts.

About two weeks ago I riled on this dumbass for saying that even before using ai to write his scripts, he didn't care about the craft, only about money. With ai, it's even easier money. This is the third time he reposts my comment to him hoping someone will defend him. Pathetic.

Wait, I don't think he merits a "dumbass", no. This is a mere dipshit.

Making new seals again. Some will look like pretty mushrooms. Other will haunt your nightmares. This is one of the things I love about ceramic seals: I can mold them physically to go with the inscriptions. I could never do this with jade since I was never good in sculpting jade.

The more I read and read about the《吕氏春秋》the more I am fascinated by it. Such a wonderful work of syncretism. According to one of the translators, Zhai Jiangyue 翟江月, at one point around 3000 scholars were working on it. You read that right: three thousand. Incredible.
