The funny thing about this discourse is that how do people not realise that the language of games is a thing throughout your entire life that stops you from playing new games? Like, the reason Dark Souls was such a shift was because a lot of people pushed others into it.
I have a bad habit of clowning on games that are like “press A to jump” or “move right stick to move camera” forgetting that legitimately that game might be someone’s first but actually when the hell did I learn what a HUD was? Like was it explained in instruction manuals?

What people often leave out of these discussions is that genres are created, typically by "waves" of new users (typically young) that learn the language of that genre. Those users will then typically keep "reading" the output in that genre until they become tired or dead.

Your gaming lexicon is probably set by the types of games you play as a young person when you are learning and malleable. Like learning multiple languages, you can go wide but most people will only be "native speakers".

Should have picked one up last year (not that I really needed it, but....) 🤔😅

How many finished games could be made with this amount? Hell, how many finished games plus cancelled games could be done with this amount?! I'm presuming that all this is proprietary and will die with the company - like everyone else. videocardz.com/newz/star-cit…

This project will always sicken me. It's the feet of Ozymandias - what will remain of this online-only monstrosity? People working for /nothing/: No lasting effect, no real impact. Skill and talent; paid but useless...

I have to say, i don't like this at all. Why are standard features being blocked from access by consumers? This is a terrible precedent!
Asus announces its own 48GB DDR5-6000 memory kit - with an exclusive 8000MT/s mode for its own motherboards: digitalfoundry.net/news/2026…

I mean it almost doesn't make any sense. 6000C26 @ 1.45V or 8000C36 @ 1.40V. So, the higher frequency/transfer rate at a lower voltage. I guess it's probably doable through manual settings but a profile should be available for all consumers.

8000 MT/s 64-64-64-128 is quite impressive itself out of the box, JEDEC. Sure, timings could be tighter but at 1.1v? That's the real story for me! This probably can do really tight timings at lower transfer rates. wccftech.com/geil-announces-…

It would be crazy if Next Gen was the inverse of the Xbox One/PS4 launch, with Sony locking down games and Microsoft opening things up.... Could actually be the next Xbox 360...
"Stop Killing Games!" "We need to get corporations to stop killing games!" Gamers Kill Games by empowering companies to keep being anti-consumer. If you really wanted to "Stop Killing Games," you'd hold companies AND GAMERS accountable for bad behavior. Stop Buying Digital.

Just watching a movie, Suspect Zero, and I'm pretty sure "For the damaged coda" turned up in one scene... was weird to instantly pick it out after hearing it so much on R&M...

Capcom's RE engine is interesting. 9060 XT beats 7700 XT and 7800 XT matches 6900 XT in non-RT perf. I guess it must respond well to the increased compute perf and maybe cache size/access of the newer architectures...

I didn't notice it for RE9 but it's even more pronounced in Pragmata!

It's hard for me to believe someone literally said that the PS3 CPU is stronger than the PS4 CPU... I guess in one isolated metric that's true? But that's like ignoring everythig else going on.

That's like looking at the Vega 64 and saying it was more powerful than a 9060 XT because it has more - Shading units - TMUs - Memory bandwidth/bus 😅

Like - is anyone seriously looking at tech which is 10 years apart and saying the older was more powerful?
