ALT What is COP?
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is an annual meeting where delegations from most nations gather to address climate change This year, COP29 will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan with the theme of āIn Solidarity for a Green Worldā.
The COP serves as a platform for negotiating the Paris Agreement, reviewing national climate action plans, and mobilizing global efforts to combat climate change. Any final decision made at a COP must be agreed upon by all member states.
COP plays a crucial role in shaping the global response to climate change by bringing together governments, businesses, civil society, and other stakeholders

The primary functions of the COP include:
Reviews National Climate Actions
The COP reviews the climate plans and greenhouse emissions data submitted by each country. This allows the COP to assess the effectiveness of these actions and measure progress towards the goals of the convention.
