Spent much of this week telling people in person, but now for a wider announcement.
My time at the KT is coming to a close. My final day is Monday.
Just wanted to say thank you to the community at large for welcoming me to Kokomo. I've enjoyed it so much, I'm sticking around :)

Zionsville Community Schools will move forward with a new operating referendum. The school board approved a ballot question tonight that seeks to raise up to $21M per year for 8 years. Funding will pay for 1 in 3 teachers.
Voters will decide in November.

I'm also doing a little Carmel school coverage. Here's my follow up on referendum talks happening at Carmel.
Have heard from both Carmel and Zionsville schools there will likely be a record number of referendum on the November ballots this year as schools grapple with SEA 1.

ZCS's current referendum expires in 2027, however a state law changes when a referendum can be put on a ballot (even years, general elections only). If the referendum is not put on this year's ballot, ZCS would have to wait until 2028, a year after the referendum expires.

Board hearing a recap on Do Days the district-wide volunteer event for ZCS students. Students participated in more than 100 volunteer projects, like organizing self care boxes for women staying in shelters, cleaning up local parks and packaging food.

Went to down to the final seconds. What a game!
Kids fought their hearts out last couple nights. Speaks to the make up of the team and coaches. Can't be mad at that.
And credit to Harrison they weathered everything Kokomo threw at them.

I swear, every Moos bucket felt clutch.
One of those games where the sum was greater than the parts.
Caleb Taflinger played his best varsity game ever and finished with a career-high 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Austin Moos dropped 5 of 7 shots for 13 points and played killer defense.
Erivon Burks did exactly what he needed to do tonight even though his three's were not hitting.
Jamael Cosley didn't hit a bucket but was 5 for 6 from the charity stripe and grabbed eight board.
