This week at the SBC, Ozark Mayor and long-time Registration Secretary Don Currence encouraged Southern Baptists to consider serving in public office “I never in my life thought I would be doing public service, but God opened the door. I realize now we need Christians to be serving in public service… "It's not easy, but the thing is, we need Christians to take the lead in our government, in our city, and be involved.”

Never let them tell you leadership doesn’t matter. Newly elected SBC President @WillyRice says “I’ll do everything I can” to help get Mohler’s Truth & Unity Amendment ratified in Indianapolis. This will be a major change from the first “second year vote” in Indianapolis in 2024. In the run up to that year, the then-SBC President did everything he could to defeat it. Having our SBC President support the amendment in its second year might make all the difference! x.com/colinsmo/status/206560…

SBC Reflections #5 Getting down to business. At its heart, the Annual Meeting is a business meeting. We ought to show up ready and able to do business. But it never seems like messengers really want to do that…

Dear Southern Baptist family, we have much work to do. As we return to Baptist headquarters (our local churches) for a busy season of ministry, I want to thank you again for your many expressions of prayer and support. As we look ahead, I assure you that it is my intent to lead out of the 7 Pillars of Renewal that I articulated throughout the spring. We are reworking our Baptist renewal website and will have a revised site up and running very soon. We want to provide a mechanism for Baptist people to express their concerns and questions. It is not possible or advisable to try to interact with every comment or question online, but we do care and want to find ways to interact with good faith concerns. We want to hear your ideas and attempt to answer questions that may come our way. The SBC President represents the people. My job is to serve you. We’re already hard at work, so stay tuned for more information to come.

The tide is turning on the sex-denying medical industry. Yet 568 companies have affirmed they still provide health insurance covering these procedures for minor dependents — and many more are silent on their involvement. Corporations: protect kids, reduce liability, and get back to business.

🚨'POLITICAL HIT OPERATION' Thanks to @ADFLegal's @ryanlbangert for laying out how horrible the SPLC's smears against conservatives are, and how the SPLC tried to use them to blacklist conservatives across society. x.com/Tyler2ONeil/status/204…

It also helped launch "Change the Terms," a campaign to convince social media companies to silence "hate." While Big Tech companies have started to swear off SPLC, previous reporting suggested they worked with the center. dailysignal.com/2025/10/23/t… 🧵15/25

As a member of Generation Z, this was incredibly refreshing to hear and contrasts with the implicit and explicit messages I have heard most of my life about Christian Civic Engagement

We are slowly remembering that civil society rests on axioms provided by the Christian faith and how Christians are called to serve the Lord in all things, including politics, for the glory of God and the common good

SBC 26 was a convention about conviction. Southern Baptists showed up with conviction and voted for convictional candidates and convictional proposals. Conviction ran the table this year and conviction is the future of our convention. I’m grateful to be a Southern Baptist.

I don’t like getting into SBC politics, but this is a discouraging response to an important question. I am, in many respects, a happy defender and champion of the IMB. But its vaccine policies are extreme and keep good missionaries off the field. I genuinely hope they reconsider.
"I'm puzzled by IMB's staff stance requiring missionaries to accept or administer to their children vaccines not required by the U.S, the country of service, or current medical standards." IMB President Paul Chitwood responds to a messenger question about their vaccine policy.

Reminder: It takes TWO years of 2/3’s vote to add an amendment to the SBC Constitution Start budgeting now so you can be part of getting this across the finish line for a better SBC 💸
I’m praising the Lord for the faithfulness of the supermajority in the SBC today. We need to pass it again next year to make the amendment permanent, so start planning for Indianapolis now.

‼️ICYMI, my latest @realDailyWire on how corporate America can ditch the SPLC. "The SPLC’s hate list helped inject lies about faith & right-of-center politics into corporate America. This lie damaged America’s social fabric and created genuine danger for real people." ⏬

An Open Letter to Benevity: Stop Using the SPLC's Discredited "Hate List" Charitable giving platforms like Benevity are supposed to empower generosity among Americans, not attempt to enforce radical ideology. As an organization placed on the SPLC's "Hate List," Turning Point USA is calling on Benevity to adopt a fair and viewpoint-neutral standard.

What happens when corporations decide which political views are acceptable? "Charitable giving programs should empower generosity, not enforce political conformity. Benevity must immediately end its use of Southern Poverty Law Center’s defamatory ‘Hate List’ and ‘Hate Map’ to block mainstream charitable organizations like Turning Point USA and Focus on the Family.” - Douglas Napier,  CEO of 1792 Exchange Huge shout out to our friends at 1792 Exchange who've helped lead the way on resisting the attempt to exclude non-profits (including us) because of the politicized nature of the SPLC.  Full article in the replies 👇

According to SBC bylaw 10: “Except for officer elections, votes may be taken by ballot, by voice, by rising, by show of hands, by common consent, or by some other acceptable method.“ Was there a mistake here in denying TUA vote by ballot raise @pastorclint
Genuinely curious because I can't recall: When did the SBC change our rules to *require* a recorded vote on constitutional amendments? Because when Mike Law offered it the first time, and we took our first vote in New Orleans, it passed by *raised* ballot, and a motion to force a *recorded* ballot vote was defeated. Then, in Indianapolis, Bart Barber *proactively* moved to make the second vote a *recorded* ballot vote, which many interpreted as a shrewd move on his part to help defeat the vote by making it secret. Somewhere along the way over the last few years, did we make a rule change requiring a recorded vote on a constitutional amendment?

Pastor @WillyRice has won election to be the next President of the SBC! Willy Rice ran on a courageous, convictional, and hopeful platform of bringing needed renewal to the SBC. He didn’t ignore the issues—he took them head on and offered Baptist solutions to strengthen our doctrine and practice as a Convention. He rejected woke ideologies and championed increased accountability. He gave a voice to the forgotten “Billy Baptists” who have increasingly felt the system ignores their churches, voices, and concerns. He called on Baptists to renew our evangelistic zeal and outreach to reach more of our nation and the world over the next 7 years. His victory shows that there is real appetite in the SBC for uncompromising leadership that can both honestly address the problems facing the SBC and champion our gospel work. At @BaptistLeaders, we enthusiastically supported Willy Rice’s candidacy and are grateful to the Lord for this outcome. The best days of the SBC can be in front of us. Decline is a choice—and can be rejected. Renewal is a choice as well. Today, Southern Baptists chose renewal for the sake of the gospel of Christ and our Great Commission together.
