I’ve been told you should never meet your heroes. But I’ve run into three people over the years that have met @hwinkler4real and said he’s cooler than The Fonz. You’re on my list, Henry!
“Hidden bias can cause a persistent urge to see all that agrees with you and ignore all that does not, even when countervailing examples abound. Among the many ways to fool oneself, the most pernicious is confirmation bias.”
(Starry Messenger; Chap 4: Conflict & Resolution)
“The brush strokes with which we paint and characterize the views of adversaries tend to be broad and without nuance, leaving us susceptible to bigotry and prejudice.”

Chromebook 10th Birthday - They sure have come along way from “just a browser” to the platform that enabled broad K-12 1:1 adoption in the US and Canada. blog.google/outreach-initiat…
@schoolmessenger Our websites have been down for about 24 hours. We have no useful communication from you. How can all of your Presence clients be down and you share nothing?
Just received your communication. PRELIMINARY results (after 24 hours) indicate that it is due to a hardware failure? So . . . you have a single point of hardware failure that can bring down all clients for this long? At six figures in annual hosting fees?
Looking for the perfect gift? Something for the person that has everything? This holiday season, give the gift of toilet paper! But hurry. Apparently supplies are limited again. 🤷🏻♂️
2020 still has some great positive stories. With so much going on these days, many technologist have overlooked two of the most important technological leaps in years. @elonmusk and @SpaceX StarLink and @Apple M1-based Macs.
@elonmusk and @SpaceX have changed the landscape for satellite and rural Internet. Fast, low latency Internet access will soon be available almost anywhere. DR/backup connectivity for disaster prone areas solved. We’ve heard the potential of LEO. They are delivering.
You don’t need to be an @Apple fan to appreciate that they have implemented an amazing architecture that marries thermal and power consumption advantages of ARM with more performance than most Intel based machines, and fast x86 compatibility. Game changer.
Hey @elonmusk let me know when you’re ready to start testing StarLink in the southern US. Those of us in hurricane alley need better DR communication solution than current terrestrial options. I’m really hoping LEO is the solution.
@GoogleForEdu strategy to force schools to upgrade to Enterprise SKU to get basic EDU features in Meet is short-sighted. As a VERY large Google district, I talk to many others. And the majority I’ve talked to either paid for Zoom or are switching to Teams. TEAMS! On Chromebooks.
And since Teams is lapping Classroom and Meet in feature development and performance, this is a very slippery slope. This is not how you monetize your EDU business. The strategy is going to backfire.
Very appreciative for @zoom_us's free services to K-12. How long is Zoom going to continue to be free for educators? Starting school shortly and we need to plan for whether we can stay with Zoom. Can't get a clear answer from support or sales (I know they are swamped).
