Join us next week on Thursday, June 18, for our EAA Aviation Museum Speaker Series as we welcome Stephen Chapis, author of “Poor Little Lambs: The Baa Baa Black Sheep Story.” Stephen will take us behind the scenes of the 1976 TV show loosely based on the World War II Marine Corps squadron famously named “Black Sheep,” with never-before-seen footage and more. Forty-eight volunteers at the Selfridge Military Air Museum came together to restore this FG-1D Corsair back to its glory days. It took 35,000 man-hours and a decade of effort to overcome the challenges this project presented, but seeing it today, all agree it was worth it. 🥳 It’s a special day in aviation history! Today, the Ford Tri-Motor marks 100 years since it first flew. 🪿Affectionately called the “Tin Goose,” it was one of the first all-metal airplanes. The S-1 “Special One” has returned to its point of origin. 🗺️📍 🛩️ After 58 years, Russ Roberts found and restored the same 1956 Luscombe 8F Silvaire that first made him fall in love with aviation at age 5.
