🪿 Deal News! 🪿 for @EBGoodale with @randomhousekids Studio, as reported today in @PWKidsBookshelf and @PublishersLunch! Here are 2 little peeks at the sketches E. B. created after her recent trip to Vermont! Congrats to all with deal news this week! 🥳
ALT Ann Kelley at Random House Studio has acquired world rights to Snow Geese Season by Angela Burke Kunkel (Digging for Words), illustrated by E. B. Goodale (The Bees of Notre Dame), a beautiful picture book about a child whose parents are unable to care for him, but who finds some sense of normalcy when his grandfather brings him to see the snow geese, which return every year. Publication is slated for fall 2026; Liza Fleissig at Liza Royce Agency represented the author, and Lori Kilkelly at LK Literary Agency represented the illustrator.
Thank you to all the bookshops out there 🙏

I'm full of good news, ugh. Mary Wilcox, VP/Dir of Pub at Clarion, was over several of our beloved books, most recently THE MOON REMEMBERS by @EBGoodale. Her editorial team loved her insight and sensibility and she will be sorely missed at Clarion. bit.ly/MaryWilcox

This is my thought exactly and I think it could apply to picture books as well. Aside from the lower price giving a truer test of a book’s success, they also take up less space on a shelf, which means- space for MORE books.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful hardcover, but why can’t paperbacks be beautiful too? I don’t think hardcover needs to be the first format for every single book.
