I was lucky enough to meet Roy Hattersley once, at a meeting to oppose the Fulham Park Rangers merger idea. Handed him a copy of @WSC_magazine and he reviewed it in Punch - the biggest publicity it had had to that point. RIP to a kind and utterly dedicated politician.

Curacao played a small part in the history of @EBTheDeres . Left-half Bob Vincent (62 apps 1933-35), finding his job in danger due to the Depression, emigrated on 9 March 1935 to work for the Curacao Mining Company. 13 months later he was killed in a motorcycle accident aged 27.

12 June 1926 – England and Australia begin the 1926 Ashes series at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. But the weather isn’t playing ball – England score 32 without loss before rain washes out the rest of the day, and looks likely to wash out the rest of the match. @100YearsAgoLive

In winning the tournament Lenglen has dropped only four games in five matches – her 6-2, 6-1 win against Britain’s Joan Fry in the semi-final was her closest match. @100YearsAgoLive
