🚨 New paper! @ECAllen and I look at students' motivational beliefs across a semester of stats. We compared individual students fluctuations to the course averages. Takeaways: students rarely resemble the class average. More within-person studies needed!

There is so much hidden curriculum in writing compelling conference proposals — grateful to @MotSIG_GSC for organizing and to be involved! Highly recommend attending if you’re planning to submit an #AERA25 proposal and have little or no experience doing so!

There is still much we do not know about cost, including what factors contribute to cost beliefs. In this paper we examined a range of predictors to better understand these antecedents. (1/3)

We found that a number of antecedents served to reduce costs, including:
1.) Expectancy beliefs
2.) Domain identity beliefs (i.e. physics
identity)
3.) Belongingness
4.) Self-regulatory strategies
Students’ course load (# credit hours) was unrelated to subsequent costs.
