Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) are toxic chemical compounds that can be detected worldwide. Although they were banned in the U.S. in 1979, PCBs still contaminate many waterways in the country. Current methods of decontamination are inefficient.

Symptoms included weakness, vomiting, rashes, headaches, memory loss, metabolic disorders, and even cancer. This could be caused by PCB levels combined with other harmful substances such as asbestos or radon.
