Why are med schools offering classes on structural racism, you ask? Because of Henrietta Lacks Because of the Tuskegee Study Because of experimental procedures on enslaved Black women Because of unnecessary procedures on women in ICE detention centers Because if you are Black or Hispanic & come to a hospital with a heart attack, you are more likely to experience a worse standard of care The reasons are endless.
Replying to @benshapiro
5/ Why is a class like this even offered, much less mandatory for med students? Which lessons on anatomy, biochemistry, and saving lives were removed to add this woke ‘Indigenae’ nonsense into the curriculum?

in community, have the power to reimagine a future and recreate a world without this unbearable suffering. We must be “here to put out the ravenous flames and heal the world. Enough is enough.” #MustStopNow #ceasefireNOW @_noor_z @DrRupaMarya @hanjaneway @DrMFof @Hind_Gaza

Everything is still on fire. Despite your best efforts. In addition to living, it is clear, that fire or not, you must level up in what it means to thrive. Right now, that means wrestling with the truth in the fact that everything is not all your fault.

The addition of @MAMAVA pods to airports and other public spaces is such a beautiful thing for those times I don’t feel like breastfeeding in public. My little one and I appreciate it @BostonLogan and @PHXSkyHarbor!

This JAMA thing is emblematic of why we struggle to get funded & published, bc ppl who feel they’re ~not racist~ & are offended by terms like structural racism must reflexively frown and clutch their ~anti-racist~ pearls at the sight of such terms in the title or abstract. *Sigh*
