Love this, Coach. First I heard this was from
@UACoachMurphy at the
@IHSBCA1. And bragging on my son a bit...it's one of the things that makes him such a good player to have on a team. I don't know that he learned it from me, but I'm proud (and glad to have a word for it, now!)
One word that changed everything for me?
"Muditā"
It means finding joy in others' success.
Celebrating when your teammates, friends, and family win as if their victory is your own.
In over 50 years of baseball, I've learned that the most successful teams aren't just talented.
They're united.
They lift each other up.
Whether it was the 2007 Rockies or the 2013 Pirates, our greatest moments happened when we celebrated each other.
Life's not a solo sport. It's a team game.
The game taught me about more than baseball.
It taught me about life.
