On the Classroom Supplies Fund, @etfopresident David Mastin told the Toronto Star, “These types of announcements ... are gradually trying to shift the public’s perception about what teachers do. It’s all part of a very, very strategic project that this government has to reduce the public’s trust in these highly trained, amazing professionals.” President Mastin said school boards and even individual schools are equipped to administer supply programs, but only if they’re provided the proper funding. “Just give the money to school boards so they can fund everything. Not just consumables, but special education supports, smaller class sizes, more EAs, more child and youth workers. These are where the difference makers lie in public education.” #onted #onpoli FULL STORY: thestar.com/gift-redeem?t=eb…

At Queen's Park today, @ETFOpresident joined @PolicingFreeSch and community members to send the government a united message. Fund our schools, not policing in schools! Ford has already spent millions on police-in-schools programs, which do nothing to address students' real needs! What students in #onted need are resources, special education supports and smaller class sizes. #onpoli

Our members have seen growing student needs, violence in schools, inadequate supports for students with special education needs, large class sizes, insufficient staffing, and challenges in retaining and recruiting teachers and education workers. "We urge the provincial government and employer bargaining agencies to come to the table as soon as possible, prepared to engage constructively in negotiations," a statement from the four unions said. #onpoli #onted

Teacher presidents from across Canada met to discuss the alarming actions of governments using the Notwithstanding Clause to override constitutionally protected rights to freedom of association, collective bargaining, and strike action. This heavy handed action is undemocratic and we will fight back! Listen to watch @ETFOpresident had to say to Ontario’s Premier and Minister of Education #onted #canlab
