Hearing the racist and anti-black discussion among Los Angeles elected leaders was painful, upsetting and indefensible. We share the family’s disgust and are deeply sorry for the pain Council Member Mike Bonin and his family have endured.

As a society, we must have zero tolerance for deliberately hateful rhetoric of any kind, and especially when it is directed at children.
We denounce the racist words and actions of these elected leaders, and stand in solidarity with our hurting communities.

Today I introduced SR 87 #DayoftheTeacher to recognize the dedication of our #teachers. As a longtime teacher, the recognition is very personal to me. My staff knows this & surprised me with flowers & a card with a grade - I got an A ! Thanks to an amazing staff. #TeamRubio

We mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, CTA Board Member Jerry Eaton. While attending the CTA Board meeting in Burlingame, Jerry experienced a serious medical issue.

Jerry was a long time CTA District A Board member serving in his third term and was a passionate supporter of public education and a strong advocate for our members and students. We will miss him deeply and send our love and condolences to his family.
