The ocean holds the key to our future: climate, food, energy, and security. But we can’t protect what we don’t understand. 🌊 That’s why #OceanEye is our window on the ocean. This initiative will unite Europe’s ocean observation systems, launch an International Alliance to strengthen global data via @IocUnesco’s Global Ocean Observing System, and build a fully operational Digital Twin Ocean by 2030. At #DigitalOceanWeek @MercatorOcean, I called on EU Member States, third countries, philanthropies, and partners to join us. Because the ocean connects us all, and protecting it demands global action. 🌍

Wrapping up a successful #2nd edition of the #EUMSPWeek2026! 🌊 Valuable reflections & discussions have been shared by @cinea_eu, @EU_Commission, projects, initiatives, and relevant actors, highlighting a community that is progressing and becoming more connected, practical and impactful. This progress is particularly important in light of what lies ahead, including the development of the EU Ocean Act and the evolving role of #MSP within it. Thank you to all the #MSP community!

⚡ Mid‑day at the first GNSBI Stakeholder Conference! A strong morning of exchanges: ☑️Opening session set the tone for basin‑wide cooperation ☑️Stakeholders shared perspectives on the GNSBI’s role and expectations ☑️Deep dive into the Ocean Pact and its relevance for the North Sea ☑️The five GNSBI Working Tracks presented their priorities and engagement opportunities We now move into the afternoon thematic breakout sessions - from 3d climate data visualisation to ecology, fisheries and offshore wind.
