I’ve had a policy since day one of not blocking anyone. That was back when there was genuine debate. No longer. I’m here to talk EVs with people who are interested in them, not bots, trolls, and halfwits. And I still don’t follow accounts that talk politics. That won’t change.

Great problem to have. Renault kicking goals everywhere lately.
Renault CEO François Provost told Reuters the company is currently facing demand for electric cars that exceeds its production capacity.

Australia’s most ridiculous newspaper has discovered depreciation on nearly-new cars is a thing.
Electric vehicles are dropping in value at an alarming speed compared with petrol ones, which seems counterintuitive when you consider the cost of fuel. Read more: bit.ly/4edXqD7

No I wouldn’t, but that’s not the important bit. Why are so few new car designs beautiful now? So much aggression, so little elegance.
New Toyota Celica, would you buy one?🤔

He’s not wrong - in the sense that one day the cohort who demand ICE and manual transmissions will indeed be all dead. That’s a few decades away, but they’ll become too old to change their own gears first.
Ford CEO Farley: They'll have to rip the Mustang's stick shift 'out of our cold, dead hands'. bit.ly/3NiuSxj

Given that these are the same car, but I agree with the visual elongation effect, it can only be that chrome trim around the windows or the light along the tip is the doors/guards in that photo giving that effect.

The sedan is still too strange looking to work in Australia, but the wagon maybe?
ORA 7 wagon and sedan unveiled in China. ORA used to be one of the coolest EV brands in China. But a few years ago, the brand just stopped launching new cars. Finally, ORA seems to be back with the ORA 7. It comes as a wagon and as a sporty fastback sedan. The sedan is the successor of the ORA Lighting Cat, but the wagon is an all-new model. - wagon: 4820/1850/1520, 2870. 1985 kg curb weight. - sedan: 4890/1850/1503, 2870. 1830 kg curb weight. - FWD models: 150 kW. - AWD models: 310 kW (150 front, 160 rear). - the top speed is limited to 180 km/h. - battery: SVOLT LFP. Launch is set for mid Q3. ORA is a brand under Great Wall Motor (GWM).

But…the Tesla Model Y was Australia’s best selling car, and therefore also Australia’s best selling EV, in May 2026. How can Jaecoo possibly make this claim?

Ohhh…according to VFacts May 2026. Which doesn’t include Tesla as Tesla is not a member of FCAI which produces VFacts. It’s technically correct but wildly misleading.

I wonder if we’ll get this in Australia?

I’ve long been of the view that the only sensible move for a diehard ICE brand like Dodge is to keep building loud V8 cars until the very end, then shut down. Just keep going until consumer demand or regulations force an end. Rebuild Chrysler as the EV brand in the meantime.
For whatever reason, Dodge increased the Charger EV’s price by $12,500, despite seemingly zero major changes. It now starts at $72,495. motor1.com/news/797936/2027-…

I’m not sure if this guy is being ironic or is one of those painful, painful FSD people. Nobody wants a self-driving sports car or supercar. It’d be like getting your girlfriend a vibrator to save you the trouble of…
This car cost $700,000 and yet it can’t drive itself

We are getting closer and closer to the day when Tesla offers an actually interesting colour… Not this obviously, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Today I learned that there is a Facebook group called V8 owners against EVs. So here’s some recent content from it, for your entertainment.

Once upon a time I knew what EVERY new car on sale was. And now I just don’t, and it bothers me, because I should know but 101 generic SUVs don’t stick in my mind. Anyway this was prompted by learning that there is a Jaecoo J8. Did you know that? Have you seen one?

Toyota and Mazda sales collapsed in May. Toyota down 30.7%, Mazda down 27.4%. Neither has much to offer by way of EVs.
Record EV market share in May in Australia at 19.9%. Model Y Australia’s best selling car for the first time with 5605 sold. Hilux second on 4474, Ranger third on 4005. The market is changing fast.
