The secret night life of Earthwise barn owls! This photo was taken in the White Barn. It will give us some idea of the owls' night time activity, and which owl is doing most of the foraging. One female spent 45 minutes on the window ledge preening and posturing recently!

Wise advice indeed from our friends at @FeedTheBees !!
Day 357 ~ Advice to first-time gardeners: Think small. Find your spot. If you grow frustrated because of too many things happening the first year, there’s a good chance you won’t feel like #gardening for a second. You can expand as your skills develop. bit.ly/FTBDay357

Have you seen active #bumblebees in your neighbourhood? That's why you need to include #pollen- and #nectar-rich #nativeplant choices for all-season blooms in your yard or #garden so you can #feedthebees too !! Thanks, BBCT.
How many of these winter-flowering plants do you have? They can be vital nectar-pitstops for winter-active bumblebees who need lots of energy while they are not in hibernation. Some bumblebees may have been disturbed from hibernation or may even be setting up a winter nest!🌼🐝

Wise words to heed this time of year on the Wet, er, West Coast of Canada. Thanks, BBCT! #GardenTogether PS: Nice #bumblebee too!
#GardenTogether 🐝 Fix up your gardening tools this winter! Time to get those secateurs sharpened, wash your gardening gloves and fix other equipment suffering loose screws or wobbly handles. Sharpening your tools is better for your plants as a clean cut will help prevent disease

Day 327 ~ Get Growing: Plan(t) for pollinators in fall and winter Loosen up your grip on the clippers and leave some leaf litter, brush or rock piles in unobtrusive corners to create nesting spots, and skip the traditional fall cleanup. Welcome the wild! bit.ly/FTBDay327

#Bee sure to check out all the buzz about building for #bees and make plans to host #beehotels for #nativebees in your garden or yard next spring! #feedthebees
Day 325 ~ Building for bees On balance, #bee houses offer a great way to invite this hidden universe into your landscape. At the very least, putting a #beehouse in your #garden offers a constructive and educational distraction from pandemic blues. bit.ly/FTBDay325
