2 Prayers that have changed me. 1: 'Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.' This is done meditatively and complitatively by breathing in the breath of life 'Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God...' that I may bear His image in me and to breath out my true sacrifice of a contrite heart '...Have mercy on me, a sinner' emptying myself humbly before Christ. Through this prayer I am recentered away from my anxious self. It keeps me humble and embolden me against the demons. Sometimes when I have a bad dream I'll pray it in my dream and immediately the dream becomes peaceful. 2: 'Oh Holy Theotokos save us/(me)' When I am self loathing or feeling lonely, this prayer has never failed to bring a warm gentle embrace over my soul like a mother comforting her child. I am filled with love and a sense of being merciful to myself and others.

The only thing I miss about Kansas is tye storms. I've witnessed a handful of storms like this one. They are more than breathtaking.

Proud dad moment. I bought a St John Maximovich icon from St Paul the Apostle monastery after asking a priest who I should pray to when my wife were in training to become foster parents. Today my foster son inquired about St John's life and asked for his icon to be placed in his room. He venerated the icon and put it on his eastern wall. He also requested a small icon of St Sozon so I ordered one from that same monastery this morning.

When a woman loses a child and hugs the stuffed animal, that is icon veneration. When you wont disrespect the Bible, that is icon venerstion (letters are icons, symbols that bring to mind ideas). When we salute the flag, that is icon veneration. When a child's crayon drawing of the family goes on the fridge, that is icon veneration. "As you did unto the least of these, so you did unto me." That is icon veneration, because the first icon of God ever made was mankind. The iconography practice of the Church is simply to draw this natural part of God's design for humans towards its healthy form and away from the demonic, such as pornography or hindu idols, which are also image veneration.

Today, we celebrate icon of Our Lady "Axion Estin." This icon and its associated celebration commemorates the time the Archangel Gabriel came to a monk on Mt Athos and taught him how to honor the Mother of God the way she is honored by the Heavenly Hosts. With them we sing: It is truly meet to bless thee, the Theotokos, ever blessed and all blameless and the Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim, thou who without corruption gave birth to God the Word, true Theotokos we magnify thee.
