I am once again warning you all that I am this close 🤏🏼 to opening a gym that centers disabled and trans people’s needs with wheelchair-friendly machines, no loud music, soft overhead lights, individual shower rooms, fat-positive trainers, and classes led by drag queens.

Not all blind people use screen readers and not all users of screen readers are blind. Blindness is not a binary. Low vision is also a thing. PDFs are not accessible to many low vision users. No matter how you make them or how well they are supported.

Disabled people don’t want access designed by nondisabled people. The first rule of access must be to consult with and follow the lead of disabled people.

Here is the classic example of ‘Deaf Gain’. The Deaf community found out who is the winner of the Best Supporting Actor a couple of seconds before non-signers because Youn Yuh-Jung tried to say congratulations in sign language! Let’s celebrate! #oscars #Oscars2022 #deafgain

"Should every designer be responsible for accessibility, or should we have accessibility designers?" All designers are responsible for accessibility, yes, but there is a LOT of value in having designers specializing in accessibility. NOT an OR question. Both. You need both.

Have been looking at a lot of web and mobile trainings last couple weeks. I was curious if #Accessibility was apart of any of them, and for most part it was no. Most of these are fundamentals courses, which leads me to this question. How does #A11y not belong in fundamentals?!?!
