Feeling so smug for going to Vallarta and asking for a 3in cut of their porterhouse, smoking 2 of them, finished by grilling with thyme and garlic butter. Had the filet mignon for dinner last night and making plans for the smoked NY on a dinner salad. #ghettoelegance

When it's 5am and you're ripping all over town being accosted by the homeless, stared at blankly by the owners cousins or some minimum wage hack...all in the quest to get goddamn half and half for my coffee. And I get it home. Is the first sip worth it all? Yes, yes it is.

Had pho today at a semi-northern spot, had to ask for fixins (noted in the menu) and had to return and ask for fish sauce! They kindly explained that their normal customer base is really bummed out by it. Ofc #NorthFresnans go out to Vietnamese and ask for @CampbellsChunky

It seems weird to me that a pound of scallops is cheaper than a pound of ribeye steak. But hey, seared scallops on thyme pureed cauliflower with a blood orange vinaigrette is a fine way to dine in quarantine.

I get that the shut down is hitting restaurants hard. But the microwaved shrimp po' boy and reheated fries I got downtown today were inexcusable. But the owner was so full of goodwill and kindness that at least my spirit was nourished. Covid is a real upside/downside experience!
