Over the years, we've had a great time on X (and Twitter), engaging with the echocardiography community. However, following changes to this platform and a great deal of thought from our Editors-in-Chief and @BSEcho, we've made the decision to step away and focus on other channels
Over the years, we've had a great time on X (and Twitter), engaging with the echocardiography community. However, following changes to this platform and a great deal of thought from our Editors-in-Chief and @BSEcho, we've made the decision to step away and focus on other channels
We will continue to promote the work of echocardiographers globally, but X is no longer the right place for us to do that
We'll link our other channels below, and we'd love to see you there. Thanks for the memories!

ALT This collaborative project, undertaken by the BSE NSTEP group, provides an updated assessment on stress echo delivery and staffing across a group of NHS hospitals. The study which recruited 8500 individuals, was designed to investigate the workforce delivering stress echo services and patient demographics. In doing so we compared study details of both physiologist/scientist and nurse led stress echo to doctor led stress echo across a range of different parameters.
The results highlight the impact that physiologist/scientist led services are having with over 40% of all studies being performed in either a physiologist/scientist or nurse-led service, across a range of different stress modalities. Interestingly, reporting of stress echo results remains predominately doctor-led though later studies indicate an increase in independent physiologist/scientist reporting also.
The study data highlights a modern, multi-professional workforce

Last week we published ✨Clinical scientist-led clinic in adult congenital heart disease – how to do it?✨ by a team from @GSTTnhs. Here's what the authors said about this latest paper in the delivery of scientist-led services in echo collection: ow.ly/Xs8p50XKfKe
ALT "Our paper describes the development of a pioneering service in which clinical scientists in cardiology lead routine follow-up care for adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD).
It outlines the essential steps required to establish a clinical service, including pathway design, protocols, training, governance, the evaluation of safety, outcomes and the patient experience. Not only is it the first publication to describe such a model in detail in the UK, but it also provides a replicable framework that aligns with the NHS ambition to advance clinical practice among clinical scientists within a clearly defined scope of practice.
By demonstrating that scientist-led clinics are effective, safe and cost-efficient, we show how this model can increase capacity, reduce waiting times and release ACHD consultant cardiologists' time to see more complex cases.
We believe this work developed by our team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ represents an important milestone for clinical scientists"
