Aberdeenshire Council’s £100 Scotland Loves Local Gift Card scheme supported over 11,000 households, showing how targeted help can reach those who need it most - while strengthening local economies.
By May 2023, over 80% of the cards had been activated, unlocking around ÂŁ920,000 worth of local spend, and some ÂŁ600,000 had already circulated into Aberdeenshire businesses.

Communities to get greater say on festive lights

Aberdeenshire - a public commitment to local growth 🌱
Aberdeenshire Council is championing the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card to support local businesses, strengthen communities and drive economic growth across one of Scotland’s largest council areas.
Since its launch, the scheme has delivered over ÂŁ1 million spent locally, helping 15,000 households and generating around 40,000 transactions - boosting footfall and connecting residents with independent businesses.
Council Leader Cllr Gillian Owen explains:
