A big thanks again to @vexl for having me give a last minute talk about CBDCs at @BTCPrague. And a big thanks to the people who came to listen.
Using freedom tech like Vexl is one of the ways that we fight back against mass surveillance and control.
The Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act would stop the government from treating software developers as money transmitters.
But some lawmakers think they should be treated the same.
@NorbertJMichel, Ryan Chan-Wei & @EconWithNick set the record straight. cato.org/blog/blockchain-reg…
So nice, it’s happening twice. Catch me again at @BTCPrague tomorrow. This time it will be on the @vexl stage at 13:00.
We will be talking all things central bank digital currency and financial privacy.
I have much to say.
My message to the Freedom Tech Summit in Prague?
Build.
It is much harder to fight back when this map goes red. Building freedom tech today not only reclaims what’s already been lost but also defends against future threats like CBDCs.
There are many areas for improvement in the Clarity Act, but Section 604, the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, is not one of them. Cato's @norbertjmichel, Ryan Chan-Wei, and @EconWithNick explain that it represents prudent policymaking because it distinguishes between writing code and moving money.
